Pre's Trail Run was a 10k race held in Eugene, Oregon, and named after medal-winning runner, Steve Prefontaine. Pre, as he was known to most people, helped spearhead the design and development of the parcourse along the Willamette River in Eugene, but sadly never got to run it himself as he was tragically killed in a car accident just a couple of month's before it opened on Labor Day in 1975. The initial race was well attended for a first-time event that was put together in a fairly short time, but the 1976 event was a much bigger affair that operated like a world-class running event and really put Pre's Trail Run on the map of events for competitive runners around the world.
