Lotus Kids Hoodie

Design created using the traditional method of Japanese woodblock printing, known as mokuhanga. In order to do this print I carved three separate woodblocks which combined make up the four colours you see in the final print. For this version I used watercolour for the black and gouache for the light green and pink. That light green and the black, when combined in layers during printing are what make up the darker green colour, I think it’s quite a cool effect. This design is based on the beautiful lotus flowers that bloom during summer in the Shinobazu pond in Ueno Park, Tokyo.
