Keyser Söze (/ˈkaɪzər ˈsoʊzeɪ/ KY-zər SOH-zay) is a fictional character and the main antagonist in the 1995 film The Usual Suspects, written by Christopher McQuarrie and directed by Bryan Singer. According to petty con artist Roger "Verbal" Kint (Kevin Spacey), Söze is a crime lord whose ruthlessness and influence have acquired a legendary, even mythical, status among police and criminals alike. Further events in the story make these accounts unreliable; in a twist ending, a police sketch identifies Kint and Söze as one and the same. The character was inspired by real life murderer John List and the spy thriller No Way Out, which featured a shadowy KGB mole who may or may not actually exist.

Söze's past is unknown, but the story told by Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey) has Söze as a low-level drug dealer who begins his criminal career in his native Turkey. The entity that is Keyser Söze is truly born when smuggling rivals, who work for the Hungarians, invade his home while he is away, rape his wife and keep their children abducted. When Söze arrives, they kill one of his children to show him how they handle these matters, then threaten to kill his wife and other child if he does not give them his business. Instead of giving in to his demands, and to prevent his family from living with the memory of what happened, Söze kills his loved ones and all the Hungarians except one whom he forgives, knowing that this survivor will tell the maf

The Usual Suspects is a 1995 neo-noir mystery thriller film directed by Bryan Singer and written by Christopher McQuarrie. It stars Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Benicio del Toro, Kevin Pollak, Chazz Palminteri, Pete Postlethwaite, and Kevin Spacey. The plot follows the interrogation of Roger "Verbal" Kint, a small-time con man, who is one of only two survivors of a massacre and fire on a ship docked at the Port of Los Angeles. Through flashback and narration, Kint tells an interrogator a convoluted story of events that led him and his criminal companions to the boat, and of a mysterious crime lord—known as Keyser Söze—who controlled them.
