The 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment is an air defense artillery regiment of the United States Army first organized in 1917 as a railway gun unit. It continued in that role unit 1943, when the regiment was broken in separate railway gun battalions, and in the following year the units were reorganized and redesignated as field artillery. On 25 October 1962, in response to the buildup of Russian missiles in Cuba, the 2nd Missile Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery (Nike Hercules) was deployed The south Florida units arrived with conventional high explosive warheads.

In May 1967, the group was reactivated at Fort Riley, Kansas as the 108th Artillery Group and deployed to the Republic of Vietnam in October 1967. The Group participated in every major operation conducted in I Corps area of operations and credited with participation in eleven different campaigns while in Vietnam. For its service it was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. The 108th departed from Vietnam on 22 November 1971 for Fort Lewis, Washington, where the unit was again inactivated.

The 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment is an Air Defense Artillery regiment of the United States Army, first constituted in 1918 in the Regular Army. During World War II the unit served as the 54th Coast Artillery Regiment (Colored), a segregated unit with mostly African American enlisted men and white officers, one of the few African American artillery units in that war.

It is principally manufactured by Raytheon Missile Systems and is produced under license by EADS in Germany and by ROKETSAN in Turkey, with 70,000 missiles produced.

COA - 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade

The 138th ADA only goes back to the 1980s. Its National Guard units had little in the way of battle honors and was largely inactive until the Global War on Terror. Since then soldiers of the 1-138th (INNG) have served in GWOT and earned a citation.

This Florida National Guard unit was deployed to Alaska to protect the newly-liberated Aleutian Islands from Japanese air attack in WWII. While not deployed for GWOT the unit did return to Alaska during the post-911 period as part of a Stinger-Patriot task force.

The 1st Air Defense Artillery's lineage goes back to the War of 1812 and the original batteries defended Fort Sumter and Fort Pickens. Obviously things didn't go so well at Sumter but Fort Pickens remained in Union hands throughout the Civil War.

The 213th ADA has campaign credits from the Mexican War, the Civil War, WWI and WWII. This Pennsylvania National Guard unit was most recently deployed to the Netherlands and Belgium in order to provide air defense against possible terror attacks in 2002. Since then the unit has been redesignated a Support Group and has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The 200th Air Defense Artillery was organized in New Mexico as a volunteer regiment to fight Indians and later served at the Battle of Santiago in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. They also saw combat during WWI, but it is WWII that saw the regiment enter into the history books and glory. By then the regiment was an antiaircraft unit deployed to the Philippines to prop up U.S. defenses on the island. Shortly after the attacks on Pearl Harbor the Japanese attacked Clark Field. Even though the antiaircraft guns of the New Mexico National Guard could not prevent the attack the Japanese did suffer losses. The gunners suffered later during the Bataan Death March. The regiment has had most of its units redesignated since 911.

2nd Air Defense Artillery has a truly impressive lineage, with streamers from the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars, the Mexican War, the Civil War, WWII, Vietnam and Desert Storm. It has mostly served as a short-range (SHORAD) air defense unit.

The 6th ADA's lineage includes duty in the Philippines, WWII Europe and the Pacific and Vietnam. 6th ADA became the core of the School Brigade at Fort Bliss, responsible for training Air Defense units in everything from Vulcan to Spartan. The 6th's unit crest comes in both left and right versions.

The 7th ADA was organized during the Spanish-American War and has the distinction of being the first U.S. Coast Artillery Corps unit in WWI to open fire... on the Western Front. Using railway guns. This was, in fact, the CAC's biggest contribution to the war effort, providing heavy artillery support to doughboys. Campaign credits include WWII, Korea and Vietnam. It has been equipped most recently with the HAWK and Patriot missile units and saw service in Desert Storm and (I believe) Southern Watch. This unit crest comes in left and right versions.

The 5th ADA Regiment was originally activated during the Civil War, during which the unit served with the Army of the Potomac and was the battles of Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and Petersburg... as well as the surrender at Appomattox. The unit also saw credible service during Korea and Vietnam, including the Tet Counteroffensive.

The battle record of the 174th ADA consisted of battle honors earned during the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. However, since the events of 911 the regiment has sent batteries to protect the National Capitol Region using Avenger and Stinger missile systems and has become the core of the 174th ADA Brigade. These battalions of the Ohio National Guard have protected Washington DC from another 911.

The 111th ADA's heritage goes back to the War of 1812, when its batteries defended Virginia against British invasion. The Civil War service of the regiment is traced along the Confederate side, as part of General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. The unit served in WWI and WWII, and later became the core of the 111th Air Defense Artillery Brigade (NMNG), the foremost National Guard ADA unit, until that unit became a manuever enhancement brigade in 2005.

The 43rd ADA was established to provide heavy railway artillery for the AEF during WWI, where it provided credible service on the Western Front. In WWII its batteries saw action in France and Germany as well as the Pacific. In the 1980s 43rd ADA battalions were reactivated and equipped with the then-new Patriot surface-to-air missile system and during Operation Desert Storm units of the 43rd Air Defense Artillery made history when they successfully intercepted an Iraqi ballistic missile in combat. 43rd ADA batteries have since served in Operations Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom.

The service of the 62nd ADA goes back to the War of 1812 and the Mexican War. During the Civil War units saw service throughout Virginia and was at Manila during the Spanish-American War... and fought insurgents during the Philippine Insurrection. The unit served throughout Europe in WWII, saw service throughout the entirety of the Korean War and earned a Presidential Citation for the Inchon landings.

3rd ADA was originally organized as an artillery unit during the War of 1812. It was reorganized as Coast Artillery Corps during the Spanish-American War, when it was thought that foreign navies might attempt to strike the United States. Units saw service in WWII and the Korean War.

The 4th ADA Regiment traces its lineage back to the War of 1812. When reactivated in the 1920s its batteries were part of the antiaircraft defenses of the Panama Canal Zone, and during WWII units served in both Italy and in the Pacific. In addition to combat in Vietnam the 4th ADA also participated in Operation Urgent Fury and were in Grenada.

The 202nd ADA's heritage goes back to WWI and WWII and the unit earned Croix de Guerre with Palm for its actions. This Illinois National Guard regiment was stood down during the Global War on Terror and converted to Cavalry.

The 6th Field Artillery Regiment is a Field Artillery Branch regiment of the United States Army first activated in 1907 from numbered companies of artillery. It was first organized with two battalions. 6th Field Artillery assigned 8 June 1917 to the 1st Expeditionary Division; relieved 16 October 1939 from assignment to the 1st Division; assigned 22 June 1940 to the 8th Division; relieved 20 July 1940 from assignment to the 8th Division. The lineages of some of the units that make up the 6th Field Artillery include campaign credit for the War of 1812. Note that the lineage of the "6th Regiment of Artillery" constituted 8 March 1898 is carried by the 6th Air Defense Artillery Regiment.

The 233rd ADA has no battle honors. It stood down from the Arkansas National Guard and was transferred to Field Artillery during the Global War on Terror.
