Jumbo the circus elephant was born in Sudan, East Africa, 1860. SOLD to P. T. Barnum in 1882 for $10,000 DIED 9/15/1885 Ontario, Canada, he was hit by a train during transport. Jumbo’s skeleton was donated to the American Museum of Natural History in New York city where it probably still remains. Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey circus retired its touring elephants in 2016.
