The Seattle SuperSonics, commonly known as the Sonics, were a professional basketball team based in Seattle, Washington. The SuperSonics played in the National Basketball Association as a member club of the league's Western Conference Pacific and Northwest divisions from 1967 until 2008. The SuperSonics won the championship in 1979 and overall, the franchise won three Western Conference titles: 1978, 1979, and 1996. The franchise also won six divisional titles, their last being in 2005, with five in the Pacific Division and one in the Northwest Division. After the 2007–08 season ended, the team relocated to Oklahoma to play under a new name.

Younger generations and even most transplants probably don't know that there used to be a single stadium where Seattle's CenturyLink Field and T-Mobile Park now sit and they most definitely don't recall the time the entire city crowded around to watch it implode. But it used to be there and it was an epic sight to behold. Yeah, it was arguably ugly, drafty, noisy and probably a bunch of other things too, but the Kingdome was Seattle's stadium. Its name came from the two labels that were floating around during its conception: "King Street Stadium" and the "domed stadium." It opened it's gates in 1976 and was built to last 1,000 years, but barely made it 20 before it began rapidly falling into disrepair being blown up on March 26, 2000.

The 1979 World Championship Series was played at the conclusion of the 1978–79 season. The Western Conference champion Seattle Supersonics played the Eastern Conference champion Washington Bullets, with the Bullets holding home-court advantage, due to a better regular season record. The series was a rematch of the 1978 Finals, which the Washington Bullets had won 4–3, though this time around, the Supersonics defeated the Bullets 4 games to 1 putting themselves in the history books as the 1979 World Champs.

This #Broadway institution was opened in 1943 by the Woo family, and (intentionally) didn't change much over its 6+ decades, with a rotary payphone, a killer jukebox & signature neon "Cocktails" sign. With cheap, stiff AF drinks & loyal regulars, Jade Pagoda had that old working-class #CapitolHill character & was part of a (now seemingly dying) breed of mid-century Chinese American restaurants/lounges/cocktail bars in #Seattle.

On Saturday, November 22, 1947, a war-surplus shop called Chubby & Tubby at 3333 Rainier Avenue S. held its Grand Opening in Seattle. The business -- which is initially based in a set of metal military Quonset huts on a corner lot (formerly site of a Signal gas station) in Seattle's Rainier Valley neighborhood -- had actually been open for about five weeks. But it seems that the two rotund owners -- Woodrow ("Woody") "Tubby" Auge (d. 1989) and Irvin "Chubby" Frese (d. 1997) -- still had a few organizational wrinkles to iron out before making things official: In fact for those first five start-up weeks the company was actually called "Tubby & Chubby."

The Century 21 Exposition (also known as the Seattle World's Fair), was a world's fair held April 21, 1962, to October 21, 1962, in Seattle, Washington. Nearly 10 million people attended the fair and unlike some other world's fairs of the era, Century 21 made a profit. As planned, the exposition left behind a fairground and numerous public buildings and public works; some credit it with revitalizing Seattle's economic and cultural life. The fair saw the construction of the iconic Space Needle and well-known monorail, as well as several sports venues and performing arts buildings that make up what is now known simply as Seattle Center.

The Seattle Pilots were an American professional baseball team based in Seattle, Washington from 1969 to 1970. On April 1, 1970, they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and became the Brewers.

The Seattle Rangers were a professional American football team based in Seattle, Washington. The team was founded in 1967 as a member of the Continental Football League and played in the Western Division until 1969.

Citizen Dick is a fictional grunge band featured in Singles, a ’92 romantic comedy set amidst Seattle’s explosive grunge music scene. The movie focused on six young people, most of whom lived in the same apartment building, and whose lives revolve around the city’s ever-expanding music scene. The inter-related stories about each character’s progress through the singles scene are intriguing and often funny, and the soundtrack is a grunge fan’s dream. Cliff Poncier was one of the main characters and frontman of Citizen Dick, and when asked by an interviewer what the band’s song ‘Touch Me, I’m Dick’ was about, Cliff offers the following rambling reply: “Well, I think ‘Touch Me, I’m Dick,’ in essence, speaks for itself, you know?"

In 1984, this pink toe truck’s iconic status was cemented in history when Mr. Lincoln decided to put the truck on his building’s roof at the company’s Fairview Avenue and Mercer Street location. It was now on display for millions of drivers that came off the Mercer Street exit from I-5 and became a fixture for decades to come. of course, long gone is the old towing yard at the end of the Mercer Street exit, but this bubblegum pink tow truck with five toes on top can still be found, though you'll need to visit the Museum of History and Industry to catch a look.

Vintage style Seattle 'Emerald City'

Ernst Home Centers, Inc. was a chain of home improvement retail stores founded in Seattle, Washington, United States. Ernst was started in 1893 by Seattle brothers Charles and Fred Ernst and in 1960 became a division of Pay 'n Save, one of the largest retail companies in the Northwest. After a 1984 takeover of Pay 'n Save, Ernst was sold off and went public in 1994. Following several highly publicized lawsuits and a failed attempt to open larger stores, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1996 and liquidated in early 1997. At the company's peak, it operated 95 stores in 12 western U.S. states. This design is based on Ernst's 1970's logo which was in place until their first rebranding in 1980.

The Seattle Rainiers, originally named the Seattle Indians and also known as the Seattle Angels, were a Minor League Baseball team in Seattle, Washington, that played in the Pacific Coast League from 1903 to 1906 and 1919 to 1968. They were initially named for the indigenous Native American population of the Pacific Northwest, and changed their name after being acquired by the Rainier Brewing Company, which was in turn named for nearby Mount Rainier.

the Dog House, a Seattle restaurant/bar located at 7th Avenue and Bell Street (at 2230 7th Avenue). Run by Laurie Gulbransen (1913-2000) for most of 60 years, it closed in on January 31, 1994. The Dog House was an epoch of Seattle history, a virtually non-stop, open-24-hours run of food, booze, music and fellowship The Dog House was a great place where truly people of all types and ages went. Their famous sign was true -- all roads did lead to the Dog House. In some ways I think it is possible to date the death of old Seattle to when the Dog House closed. After 1993 is when the high tech, hip Seattle, the darling of the national press city really took off.

The Rocket was a free biweekly newspaper based in Seattle and serving the Pacific Northwest from 1979 to 2000. The newspaper's chief purpose was to document local music. This focus distinguished it from other area weeklies such as the Seattle Weekly and the Willamette Week, which reported more on local news and politics. By 1982, the paper’s circulation had grown to 50,000 copies per month and managed to attract nationally known writers and cartoonists as contributors. The staff attempted to cover only obscure alternative bands, but the publisher continued to insist that mainstream material be given equal time. The editorial team agreed to do so, but only if they could trash the mainstream acts a little in the articles.
