Oregon Highway 101 T-Shirts

Neskowin, Oregon is a little known town located just north of Lincoln City. It was originally referred to by local natives as Nestugga (or Nestucca) called "Woods," the area was eventually abandoned. Neskowin as it became known means plenty of fish; reports in the early 20th century note that the waters were black because of the abundance. Settlers eventually came in 1886, when a sailing vessel filled with wheat and lumber ran aground. It remains to this day a quiet spot on the coast, largely unchanged since the early 70's. This design was influenced by the fact that the US 101 PCH runs through Neskowin.

I had to stop to capture this view of Siletz Bay, near where Abrams Creek runs into the Siletz River. These rocks are on a small peninsula that pokes into the bay, viewable as you drive by on Highway 101, south of Lincoln City, Oregon. Beyond the rocks is where the Siletz River empties into the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge.
