I love sparrows. A lot. : ) I’ve had this idea, to do a bird-in-flight pattern, in my head for a long time, but it took me ages to get the courage to begin, because it was a LOT of work, and took a long time. This is the monochrome / black and white version.

Inspired by folk art and embroidery, a retro floral pattern in deep indigo, cream, coral, red and brown.

I wanted to do a work reminiscent of a mosaic made of brightly coloured, highly detailed and patterned ceramic tiles. I used bits and pieces of my own hand drawn patterns to decorate them. : )

Hexagons are so fascinating, the patterns they make! they make me think of children's building blocks, bees & honeycomb, boxes, diamonds, triangles, stairs & steps - love them! : )
