Rik Mayall - portrayed Rick, studying sociology and/or domestic sciences (depending on the episode) with characteristic that had him as hypocritical, radical, attention-seeking, and a self-proclaimed anarchist. Mayall portrayed his character as being mostly critical towards the others, often insulting Neil, but also occasionally Vyvyan (despite him retaliating violently to his criticism), who proclaimed himself as a vegetarian and an avid fan of Cliff Richard, while constantly adapts himself to different political beliefs, depending on how they will benefit him in a particular situation, despite displaying little understanding of them.
