There are many interesting streets in Padules, one of the larger villages in La Alpujarra Almeriense, Almeria, Andalucia, Spain. For a painting I particularly liked this scene. The light and shade, textures and colours are perfect for this watercolour and the composition leads the eye down the narrow lane towards the Jasmine climbing up the wall of a house. I painted this watercolour, in the village of Fondón in La Alpujarra Almeriense, looking through this tinao down a narrow street off the main square. Tinaos are a regular feature in the villages of La Alpujarra. They are arches at crossroads over which the neighbouring houses spread. I like the way this one frames the composition leading the eye down the narrow, cobbled street.
