Mel's Diner in Phoenix, Arizona was the setting in the TV show, Alice, that aired on CBS from August 31, 1976 to March 19, 1985. The series is based on the 1974 film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. The diner exterior footage was all shot at the actual Mel's Diner on Grand Avenue in Phoenix, while the interior was all shot on sets in Burbank. This version of the Mel's Diner design includes a realistic vintage treatment to give it true retro look like you picked it up back in 1976.

Alice is an American sitcom television series that aired on CBS from August 31, 1976, to March 19, 1985. The series is based on the 1974 film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. Alice Spivak Hyatt (Lavin) is an unemployed widow after her husband Donald is killed in a trucking accident, and with her young son Tommy (played by Alfred Lutter in the television pilot, reprising his role from the film, but portrayed by Philip McKeon thereafter) heads from their New Jersey home to Los Angeles to pursue a singing career. Her car breaks down in Phoenix, and we meet her soon after she has taken a job as a waitress at Mel's Diner, in Phoenix.

Your favorite supernatural detectives are back! Shaun Frampton is Francis "Grits" Blake, race car driver with an ear to the streets. Isaiah Jefferson Lincoln is Ernest "Gravy" Wright, former pro football player with a history of mystery. Grits and Gravy, together again, in the classic 1981 film Grits and Gravy: Miami Midnight.

Grits are without question a truly southern dish, so it would make sense that a town in the south would host a multi day festival celebrating them. After it came to the attention of several buyers for local grocery stores and grits distributors that the people of St. George, South Carolina ate more grits per capita than any other place in the world, the wheels were in motion to celebrate. The first festival was held in 1986, when the small southern town of just 2,000, welcomed an estimated 45,000 aficionados of grits to enjoy their favorite dish and engage in grits related activities.

Remember the show Alice from the late '70s? This is my recreation of the famous sign from the beginning of the show. it is an actual place you can visit today if you're ever in Phoenix, Arizona stop by and kiss their grits.
