I am a citizen of a dystopian society in the year 1984. I live in a world where freedom of thought and expression is suppressed by a totalitarian government. I am constantly monitored by the government and am expected to conform to its strict rules and regulations. I am constantly under the watchful eye of Big Brother and am expected to follow the Party's doctrine without question. I live in a world of fear, mistrust, and paranoia, where the government controls every aspect of my life.

Something strange happened in the last 15 years - "Big Brother" got semi-privatized, and everyone decided it was trendy. We've gone from fearing being watched to inviting it. Strange. Credit goes to my old friend Jeremy for the initial idea on this one.

As well as administering "truth", the ministry spreads a new language amongst the populace called Newspeak, in which, for example, "truth" is understood to mean statements like 2 + 2 = 5 when the situation warrants. In keeping with the concept of doublethink, the ministry is thus aptly named in that it creates/manufactures "truth" in the Newspeak sense of the word.
