Paper Aeroplane Design

This image depicts an Avro Lancaster bomber on a mission with an almost full moon on a cloudless night. This was called a Bomber’s Moon because the moonlight would light up the target area almost like daylight. A bomber’s moon also reflects from the surface of rivers, making navigation much easier. Pilots could follow the line of a river to guide themselves to their targets, which was useful in an era of visual navigation!

This was the last flying Vulcan bomber called “The Spirit of Great Britain” XH558 photographed in profile.
