Fujin '風神' is Japanese god of the wind, and Raijin '雷神' is Japanese god of lightning, thunder and storms in the Shinto religion and mythology, both are among the eldest Shinto gods. Fujin is often portrayed as a terrifying demon-looking spirit , resembling a red headed green-skinned humanoid wearing a leopard skin, carrying a large bag of winds on his shoulders; and Raijin is typically depicted as a demon-looking spirit beating drums to create thunder, usually with the symbol tomoe drawn on the drums. In Japanese art, Fujin and Raijin are often depicted together. The kanji behind Fujin and Raijin is '風' meaning wind, and '雷' meaning thunder; at the back is a three-fold tomoe symbol that often used as kamon or symbol by Shinto Shrine.

IJN Fuso (扶桑/ふそう) was the lead ship of the two Fuso-class dreadnought battleships built for the IJN, named after the classical name of Japan, launched in 1914 and commissioned in 1915.Fuso was modernized in 1930 – 1935 and again in 1937 – 1941, with improvements to her armor and propulsion machinery and a rebuilt superstructure in the pagoda mast style. With only 14-inch guns, she was outclassed by other Japanese battleships at the beginning of World War II, and played auxiliary roles for most of the war.

IJN Hyuga (日向/ひゅうが) was the second and last Ise-class battleship built for the IJN during the 1910s. Although completed in 1918, she played no role in World War I. Ise was reconstructed in 1934 – 1937, with improvements to her armour and propulsion machinery. Despite the expensive reconstruction, the ship was considered obsolete by the eve of the Pacific War. After the war, Hyuga was scrapped in 1946–1947.

This verse, finely written in Persian artistic calligraphy means: Come on, friend! Let's not grieve for tomorrow! Persian calligraphy is a delight to the sight and cherishes the eyes. Depicting Dosan spying on Oda Nobunga in distance, to dertermine whether Nobunaga will make an acceptable son-in-law. Behind is the kamon of Saito clan, with calligraphy kanji of Saito Dosan, signature and seal of Kuniyoshi.

Bushido (武士道), a Japanese word meaning "The Way of Warriors" or "Samurai Spirit", where 武士 means "Samurai" and 道 means "Ways", it is a Japanese collective term for the many codes of honour and ideals that dictated the samurai way of life, loosely analogous to the concept of chivalry in Europe.

Kongo Yaksha Myo-o (Vajrayaksa) is one of the five Wisdom Kings of Buddhist mythology. He is a destroyer of human desires and represents strength, and he represents amongst the five the direction north. His rite is extremely successful in subduing demons and enemies as well as gaining the love and respect of others. A mandala is dedicated to him, while the Tendai Buddhists tend to replace him with Ususama.

Date Masamune (伊達政宗) was a regional ruler of Japan’s Azuchi – Momoyama period through early Edo period. Heir to a long line of powerful daimyos in the Tohoku region, he went on to found the modern-day city of Sendai. In spite of facing an infamously traumatizing childhood, he rose to prominence as the most dominate ruling power in Oshu. He is reputed as one of the wisest figures of the time era, biting back his ambitions to stay as one of the wealthiest independent rulers of his time. The One Eyed Dragon of Oshu (奥州独眼竜), is the nickname of Masamume due to his missing right eye.

神風 “Kamikaze” meaning “Divine Wind”, originally referring to the storms that bring down the Mongolian fleets in their invasion to Japan. The name “Kamikaze” was later used during World War II as nationalist propaganda for suicide attacks by Japanese pilots. The metaphor meant that the pilots were to be the “Divine Wind” that would again sweep the enemy from the seas. This use of kamikaze has come to be the common meaning of the word in English.
