Abandoned Stone Farmhouse

We were about to embark on a cruise, leaving from Split in Croatia, but we had a night to spend in the city before we boarded. This image is of the delightful square at the western end of the Riva boardwalk. It's early May, so the tourists hadn't yet arrived in throngs, but the restaurants were busy. The evening was warm, the atmosphere inviting.

This image depicts the Stradun, the main street in the old city of Dubrovnik. The city is like a medieval theme park; everything seems to be as it was, except, that is, the thronging masses of tourists. My image was captured from the massive wall that surrounds the old city, from just above the main gate.

It was a rainy day in Dubrovnik. It was early May, so the tourist season wasn't yet in full swing, but those who were there were out enjoying a stroll along the Stradun, the main street in Dubrovnik's old city. Umbrellas and plastic raincoats abounded. These tourists were out to take in this medieval time capsule as best as they could.

This is an image of the bell tower, or at least the top of it, that sits at the end of the Stradum in Dubrovnik. I love the white stone of the tower set against the deep blue sky.

In modern times, Hvar is a bustling tourist destination with small restaurants, gift shops, and boutiques lining its narrow alleyways, but that narrowness tells a story of earlier times.
