Stormy November weather at the mouth of the River Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. This image was taken from the old Wooden Pier looking across the river, past the fog horn towards the lighthouse on the end of Cambois Pier. The image has been converted to Monochrome to emphasise the drama.

A Fogbow is similar to a rainbow without the spectrum of colour, and is produced by sunlight shining on fog. These weather phenomenon are quite rare and this one was spotted at Druridge Bay in Northumberland just as the sun was breaking through the fog on a calm July morning.

Ram Island Ledge Light Portland Maine by Debra Martz Built of gray granite blocks in 1905 on a tiny rock island in Casco Bay, Ram Island Ledge Light strikes a solitary pose at the entrance to the Portland, Maine Harbor. Still a critical aid to navigation, the Ram Island Ledge Light flashes white twice every six seconds. Two fishing boats portrayed in the style of an impressionist painting. This pair was photographed on the beach at Hastings on the south coast in East Sussex in late afternoon sunshine. This shingle beach is called the Stade - the Anglo Saxon word for landing place. Here we find the Hastings fishing fleet - now the largest beach launched fleet in Britain.

Rough seas and seagulls near the lighthouse on Tynemouth Pier. The pier protects the northern bank of the River Tyne as it flows into the North Sea on the North East coast of England.The image has been given an artistic filter in the style of Degas.

This photograph was taken from Blyth beach in Northumberland, looking over a balustrade north over the beach towards the twin piers and lighthouse at the mouth of the River Blyth. The image was taken on a mild chilly but sunny April morning under an almost cloudless blue sky.

December morning on the beach at Blyth in Northumberland just after sunrise with a very strong wind enabling spray off the tops of the waves as they crash onto the sand. The light from the newly risen sun seems to illuminate the spray against the silhouetted piers and lighthouse guarding the entrance to the Port of Blyth. The image has been given a slight panorama crop but is also available without this.

The tide slowly starts to overtake the rocks near Elephant Rock on Currumbin Beach. It wasn't the best sunrise, but once it finally popped up over the clouds, it was a perfect morning with wispy clouds in the sky and wispy water running all around me.

Founded by Herman Steinlauf in 1916 as a music store, Herman’s World of Sporting Goods was a large chain of sporting goods stores in the United States. At one time, there was a gentleman’s agreement with west coast competitor, Oshman’s Sporting Goods, that the Herman’s chain would stay east of the Mississippi, while Oshman’s would be dominant on the west coast. Later on, Herman’s did expand west with the acquisition of Salt Lake City-based Sunset Sports Centers, although this was short-lived. By 1992, Herman’s had 259 stores in 35 states, but the entered into bankruptcy in 1993, first closing stores in the New York metropolitan area, then the New York City stores.

This image shows the view of Alnmouth Boat Yard looking south over the River Aln in Northumberland at low tide towards the sand dunes and the old WWII concrete blocks which were laid as tank traps. Rocky Island in Seaton Sluice, Northumberland was formed when a channel was cut between the small tidal harbour and the North Sea in the eighteenth century. The buildings on the island are whitewashed and are viewed here over a meadow from Collywell Bay then converted to black and white.

Tall Ship The Flying Dutchman pictured after sundown on the River Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England against a darkening blue sky with other ships in the harbour. The ship is a two masted schooner which is available for cruises mainly around the coasts of Great Britain and Northern Europe.
