This painting was specifically done for an art exhibition with a Celtic theme. I was reading some medieval stories about courting etc. and ended up painting with watercolour depicting woodmen from the forest dressed in their best clothes attending a market day festival in a nearby town with the specific purpose of courting or wooding the fair maidens there. It was a bit of fun to research and paint, especially researching the modes of dress for the period. I have included it here for the fans of all things Celtic and medieval and I thought it might be a suitable artwork for a child's room or as a card for Valentine's Day.
