The gang's all here. Celebrate the most tragic chapter in Antarctic Scientific Research history with this commemorative group photo of the team from Outpost 31, all of whom mysteriously disappeared in the winter of 1982, leaving but one survivor, a plucky husky/wolf cross called 'Jed'. Jed was of course famously adopted by then US President Ronald Reagan, who brought him to live at the White House from that point on. Alien conspiracy theories attached to a dramatic shift in White House policy shortly thereafter coinciding with Jed's sudden disappearance are completely untrue. Completely.

The Thing from Another World, sometimes referred to as just The Thing, is a 1951 American black-and-white science fiction-horror film, directed by Christian Nyby for Howard Hawks' Winchester Pictures Corporation, and released by RKO Pictures. The film stars Margaret Sheridan, Kenneth Tobey, Robert Cornthwaite, and Douglas Spencer. James Arness plays The Thing. It's based on the 1938 novella Who Goes There? by John W. Campbell (writing under the pseudonym of Don A. Stuart)

The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter from a screenplay by Bill Lancaster. Based on the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There?, it tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter the eponymous "Thing", a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates, then imitates, other organisms.
