For nearly 50 years, the no-frills, all-business boozing destination in the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood has been a watering hole for all kinds of drinkers. From the topless portrait of the previous owner’s grandmother behind the bar and the doodled on dollar bill-covered walls to the stiff but cheap drinks and funky restrooms, High Tide Cocktails was a dive bar in every sense of the term. While the establishment changed hands over the years, the name and the divey ambiance remained, as did the revolving cast of mostly female Korean bartenders.

Gonna take you to a dive bar. The Tiki has had a greater influence on the modern art world than many realize. The 20th century saw a rise in American’s fascination with the Pacific Islands and their native culture. Images of the traditional life of native islanders captivated the residents of the Continental U.S. and brought about a desire to fill their mundane environment with some of the iconography of the islands. Post World War II returning GI’s brought back images of the Pacific Islands and the fascination with Tiki emerged. By the 1960s Tiki could be seen everywhere. It adorned buildings, restaurants, motels and all manner of advertising. Exports of authentic Tiki could not keep up with the demand.

Tropical Tiki Time

The Korova Milkbar, a more mature take on a traditional milk bar, is a bar that specializes in serving Korova Plus - milk mixed with various legal drugs. The milk bar is mentioned as having no liquor license and instead serves the drug-laced milk to circumvent that fact and serve to minors. There are three types of Moloko plus served within the Milk Bar; vellocet (mixed with opiates), synthemesc (mixed with synthetic mescaline) and drencrom (mixed with adrenochrome and other hallucinogens). It can be served to minors because of its lack of alcohol, something that only makes sense in a movie like A Clockwork Orange. The milk bar is furnished with various white statues of naked women with brightly colored hair and breasts that dispense milk.

The World Famous Seven Seas Restaurant in California Tiki Bar

Tucked into the side of the Moore Hotel (built in 1907), this old school dive bar bordering Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood first opened it’s doors in 1939. They served up cheap (and stiff!) drinks from nice, but no-nonsense bartenders in a colorful, no-fuss, vintage atmosphere. It was the kind of place where bike messengers, old-timers, metal heads, hipsters, and oddball downtown characters sat side-by-side in harmony. They also had live music, dart boards, pool tables, a killer happy hour, and strangely, really good food. It closed suddenly in Spring 2016 and locals have lamented the loss of “the last real bar in Seattle” ever since.

The Boar’s Nest is a fictional business from The Dukes of Hazzard TV series and films. It is a bar that sells gas and serves food—owned by Boss Rainey/Hogg where the people of Shiloh/Hazzard County meet and socialize. This Boars Nest design has an authentic look on the original TV series signs and billboards along with a realistic vintage treatment with plenty of cracking and chipping to give it an authentic 70s look. This tribute t-shirt is inspired by the 1979 tv show “The Dukes of Hazzard” – no copyright infringement intended. This is not an officially licensed product and is considered FAN ART. Cool, new, popular.

The Snuggly Duckling is a pub located somewhere in the woods, not too far from Rapunzel's tower. Despite having what seems to be a "cute" name, the Snuggly Duckling is definitely not a cute place. The restaurant hosts many of Corona's ruffians and thieves who use the location as a hangout.

Originally a leather bar with an obvious western theme when it opened in 1974, this West Village gay bar eventually played host to a rather diverse crowd with campy drag shows in it's latter years up until it's closing in 2014. This design celebrates Boots & Saddle's earliest incarnation that would end up becoming a 40-year old icon of New York's diverse LGBT scene.
