Whatever your opinions are of the Vietnam War, one thing is for certain: it left many veterans scarred physically, emotionally, psychologically and so on. It's important to give aid to them, and so, for every purchase that is made for this piece (featuring a mermaid in a Donut Dolly uniform), proceeds will be given to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping veterans and their loved ones. Based on a MerMonday challenge, I drew up this mermaid in uniform for Veteran's Day. The whole composition is based on World War II detail – the outfit was based on the Andrew Sisters’ look, the woman’s look was based on a late aunt who did her part in World War II, and the whole look was inspired by WWII art. All proceeds shall go to the Rosie the Riveter museum, a non-for-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the lives and histories of American civilians working during World War II and the significance behind the iconic Rosie the Riveter icon.
