The Owl of Athena or Athena's Owl. A small owl that symbolizes and/or accompanies the Greek Goddess Athena. It's been used as a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, perception, understanding, and learning across many cultures.
This Raven is flying with snow covered mountains in the background. I wanted it to gradually emerge, so I only did details on the front of the bird, keeping the back more abstract. It was created in acrylics on MDF.
This bird is a specific Rooster from Norse mythology and its name is Gullinkambi (golden comb). It’s one of three roosters said to crow at the beginning of Ragnarök, the end-battle. He lives in Asgard and it’s his job to wake the Æsir and the fighters of Valhalla when Ragnarök begins.
The painting is a watercolour sketch created as a sample of what I had in mind for the series ‘Creatures of Mythology’
This drawing of a Great Tit (Parus major) was something I’ve thought of doing for a while now. I got the idea to do this little bird from watching the ones in our backyard. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing quite a few of these from our kitchen window.
