I’ve been curious about the myths and folklore about Wolverines for a while since they live just a bit further up the mountain here and is one of our larger predators. So when my friend Jonquil asked me to write a blog post about them, I couldn’t resist. And then I had to make a video from the post as well, to spread the info further. I made this drawing in relation to that video.
This Raven is flying with snow covered mountains in the background. I wanted it to gradually emerge, so I only did details on the front of the bird, keeping the back more abstract. It was created in acrylics on MDF.
This coloured pencil drawing on watercolour paper of a Capricorn is not available to the public as an original yet. It’s one of a number of drawings I did for the western zodiac
The Hedgehog may look like it’s only a small, sweet and cute thing but it is a hunter and very resourceful. And it has a very effective defence. Unfortunately, their numbers have been going down. Some of the reasons are a lack of suitable hibernation sites, traffic and people giving them milk. (I’ve shared a link on my fb profile about how you can help them if you want to do that.)
Hedgehogs have their wisdom as an animal spirit as well. Mostly relating to being curious and resourceful while still protecting yourself. Being close to Earth, being true to yourself, focusing on joy and staying calm and practical.
Hedgehogs are in trouble. I will donate 10% of the money generated by this art print to an organization working to save them
Here in Norway (goes for Scandinavia too), we only have one venomous snake.
The common European adder is extremely widespread and can be found throughout most of Western Europe and as far as East Asia.
The colour varies from black to a sandy brown. On the black snake, you can’t see the characteristic zig-zag pattern it’s usually identified by.
I used this snake as my reference for this painting and I chose to call it Serpent. It could be interpreted as an image of the Adder or as an image of the World Serpent (Jormungandr) from Norse mythology. That’s all in the eye of the beholder.
The original painting is 70 × 90 cm and painted in acrylics and is available at https://lindaursin.net/product/serpent/
A watercolour painting on paper depicting a rose and leaves with cypher runes hidden in the flower for the purpose of a personal amulet. Since it’s a personal amulet, the original is not for sale
These apples are from our apple tree, the one we still have in our garden. When we moved here, we had two trees. One of them was really old and not looking healthy, so the following year we had to cut it down. That first year we got 30 kg (~ 60 lbs) of apples, and I made both wine and cider, plus gave away two bags full to a neighbour, and some to the neighbourhood cows. The painting was done in watercolour on watercolour paper.

An amulet art piece in pencil, which is a drawing of an Emu with runes hidden in the design. The runes that make up the amulet part, form the Old Norse word for endurance or stamina.
I created a colourful background and had been wanting to do something more with it. This is what it became. To be completely honest, my daughter picked the Toad out of a couple of alternatives.
I drew the Toad in with pencil and covered everything outside it with a layer of Gesso. Then I used a sharpie to create the lines before filling in some more colour in acrylics.
My other colourful amphibians needed a pal, so I created this salamander in watercolour to keep them company. I also made a video of the process which you can watch on youtube.
I started with a light sketch on watercolour paper and then created a background using three colours. Then I added the outline with a black marker.
This is a watercolor and colored pencil portrait of my own dog Bonzo when he was a puppy in 2003 and we picked him up at the breeder. He’s quite a bit larger now but still cute :D
This is a re-draw of a drawing I did in 2004 of a young Hooded Crow with an attitude. It was done in colored pencil on paper and there’s a video of how I created it here on my Youtube channel (svehex)
This bird is a specific Rooster from Norse mythology and its name is Gullinkambi (golden comb). It’s one of three roosters said to crow at the beginning of Ragnarök, the end-battle. He lives in Asgard and it’s his job to wake the Æsir and the fighters of Valhalla when Ragnarök begins.
The painting is a watercolour sketch created as a sample of what I had in mind for the series ‘Creatures of Mythology’
Every year on the 22nd of September, they celebrate World Rhino Day and this year, I thought I’d join in.
This sketch was done in pencil on paper and is my way of celebrating the Rhino.
This drawing of a Great Tit (Parus major) was something I’ve thought of doing for a while now. I got the idea to do this little bird from watching the ones in our backyard. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing quite a few of these from our kitchen window.
