One of the most picturesque and lesser-known churches in the city of Tegucigalpa is the church of San José de la Montaña. It is located in the highest part of the Buenos Aires neighborhood (made out of a series of small hamlets). This neighborhood is situated high in the city around the periphery of the historical center of Tegucigalpa where many little known small churches were built over the years in the highest parts of their neighborhoods and colonies. They were built to attract the local residents and capture the attention of people passing by.
