Golden Eagle Bar Baseball T-Shirt

The existence of Belle Glade is due to the federal project of draining the land around Lake Okeechobee in Florida so that the acreage could be used for agriculture. The rich soil which was previously submerged was mucky, so the town (and much of the surrounding area) became known by the nickname Muck City. The town, which included the Golden Eagle Bar, was built in 1925 and subsequently destroyed three years later by a hurricane which killed thousands of people. The small town was subsequently rebuilt, including the Golden Eagle, which continued to serve the local population along with the many agricultural workers for decades into the future.
