The turkey vulture (Cathartes aura), also known in some North American regions as the turkey buzzard (or just buzzard), and in some areas of the Caribbean as the John crow or carrion crow, is the most widespread of the New World vultures. One of three species in the genus Cathartes of the family Cathartidae, the turkey vulture ranges from southern Canada to the southernmost tip of South America. It inhabits a variety of open and semi-open areas, including subtropical forests, shrublands, pastures, and deserts.

By 1958 header builder Sandy Belond had assembled a small team and was selling his headers through more than 2,000 dealers and his business was hugely successful. Sandy sold the business to A-P Industries, better known as Appliance Plating, and by 1960 they had rebranded Belond Headers as Appliance. Appliance couldn't figure out how to run the business, so they hired Sandy to run it and he did so until his passing in 1988. Appliance-made headers continued to leverage Sandy's basic designs, but added their own bright white ceramic coating which in most cases, lasted longer than the engines they were bolted to which is no small feat for a coating on one of the hottest parts of a car.

Just caught this Black Breasted Buzzard coming in to land at the Flight Arena at Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria, Australia. Look at those beautiful feathers!

Founded in 1969, California Cycle Works was a manufacturer of custom motorcycle parts and a premier builder of NorCal style choppers and wild customs. Based in Sacramento, California, CCW was on the front end of the chopper craze, and produced a full catalog of custom parts ranging from custom frames to raked chopper forks and continued doing their thing well into the mid '80s.

Camouflage is a distinct key to eluding prey items whilst on the hunt in the Wild. This common buzzard, has heavily mottled feathers - blending well with its surroundings within the knurled and gnarled woods. From such high elevation and with good rotational ability of the neck, although not quite as good as owls, these buzzard lock on to their target with forward facing fantastic binocular vision and narrow field of view. Frequently whilst spotting them in the Wild, it is only this head movement and their shape that gives them away to the lens, whilst searching from afar...

When is a home your castle? Well, certainly its your home when others allow it to be... Birds of Prey need respite from the pressures upon them from commercial pressure and agricultural pressure. We are very lucky in the British Isles to have such wonderful raptors gracing our countryside... In Wales, the historic town of Caernarfon is visited by millions of tourists per year, they climb the turrets of the castle and visit the notorious Eagle Tower... but do they ever stop to think why it might be called that...??? Well, certainly it has a birds eye view - but maybe there's more than just the name... there be dragons, there be raptors, there be, eagles... there be a pub too..! :D But when there's buzzards about and all type...
