TRX 250R 1987

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future is a science fiction-action TV series that merged live action with animation based on computer-generated images that ran for 22 episodes. The story took place on Earth in the 22nd century in the aftermath of the Metal Wars, which led to the subjugation of humanity by intelligent machines. A small unit of human soldiers, survivors of the Metal Wars, lead an underground resistance against the activities of the evil Lord Dread and his monstrous creations, Bio-Dreads, designed to hunt down human survivors and digitize them. A toy line was produced that included unique interactive elements that allowed the toys to interact with a special segment in each episode.

Inspired by The Monster Squad (1987).

The Intrepid Fox was a pub at 97–99 Wardour Street, Soho, London, established in 1784 by the publican Samuel House, who named it after the prominent British Whig statesman Charles James Fox. It was a popular spot with rockers in the ’60s and ’70s, but new ownership in the late ’80s really gave it a great goth pub vibe. The updated club’s eclectic, dark interior attracted punks, goths, and metal heads alike, and played host to countless bands over the years before closing in 2006.

The unheralded college rock band Dharma Bums garnered a passionate cult of fans, especially in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, but the group broke up just when the Pacific Northwest was attracting media attention for its underground music scene. Originally calling themselves the Afterludes, they later changed it to the Dharma Bums. The group used money from sold-out gigs in Portland to visit Seattle in search of a label, finding one with PopLlama. In 1988, they released the Dharma Bums' first album, Haywire. "Boots of Leather" was a smash on college radio, leading the band to a new deal with Frontier in 1989. Many expected the Dharma Bums to be a breakthrough alt-rock act of the Northwest music scene, but that wasn't in the cards.
