Sylvia Rivera was a Latinix pioneer of the Gay & Transgender Rights movement. A bisexual, transgender, drag queen; Sylvia began her activism with the Civil Rights Movement. After being one of the first to take a stand at the Stonewall Riots, she continued into co-founding STAR (which worked to help homeless queer youth) and AIDS Activism. Andrea Rosales produced this portrait for us as part of our Heroes & Inspirations project.
