The crowds at Buckingham Palace were a bit overwhelming & too big for decent photography so I headed down Constitution Hill & found this gem & London icon. Wellington Arch, one of London’s best-known landmarks, was built in 1825–7 and was originally intended as an outer entrance to Buckingham Palace. At first it stood facing the Hyde Park Screen, but it was moved to its present position in the 1880s. Its original design was never completed, and a controversial giant statue of the Duke of Wellington was erected on top of it in 1846.
