While preparing a collection of paintings based on photos I took spring 2014 in Natchez, Mississippi, I googled "Natchez Pilgrimage Queen Flog." Households where former Pilgrimage Queens reside fly an honored flag. I have several photos of these flags, but not a photo close enough or clear enough to paint it in detail. Well, I didn't find a photo of the flag, but I did find this enchanting black and white photo of Julia Devereaux Hendrix Stone, the 1941 Pilgrimage queen. I'm not a portrait artist, but this photo begged to be painted. Here is #9 in the series.... Natchez Royalty.
