He was given to the city’s first zoo in Washington Park by the Pabst Brewing Company. Samson lived his life alone in a glass enclosure, often hitting the windows of his prison in frustration. Reaching a weight of 652 lb., Samson managed to break the glass four times. His taxidermy carcass continues to be encased in a glass enclosure, sealing Samson’s eternal fate.
