The harbour entrance at Maryport on the north Cumbrian coast. The town overlooks the Solway Firth with the hills of Dumfries and Galloway in the far distance. Maryport was once a thriving port centred round the coal and ship building industries. Having declined in importance since Victorian times, it is now developing as a holiday and cultural centre and the harbour is home to fishing boats and yachts. This image was captured in early morning in late June and has been made into digital art.

Stilbocarpa polaris, commonly known as the Macquarie Island Cabbage, is a species of flowering plant usually placed in the family Araliaceae. It sits with an air of total comfort and satisfaction watching all the comings and goings of the restaurant patrons. The southern end of Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges from Stokes Lookout. Spring brings colour to the desert in the form of wildflowers and spinifex grass. Although often confused with a volcanic crater or a meteor crater it is actually part of the Adelaide Geosyncline. The actual Pound is sedimentary rock in the form of a large syncline, with the fold axis running NNW-SSE through Edeowie Gorge at the northern end and Rawnsley's Bluff at the southern. This is a gazanea flower I macro photographed outside the town of Morgan in South Australia. There were hundreds of them in all different colours and patterns growing on a patch of dirt alongside the River Murray. I just loved the beautiful bright colour and I hope you do too - it would brighten up the darkest corner and be a great piece for a sun room or patio. This image has not been altered or enhanced in any way.

A view of Eastbourne Pier in East Sussex on England's south coast in the style of a coloured pencil drawing. This extremely elegant pier was opened in 1870 although it wasn't completed until 1872. Two years later part of it was swept away in a storm so was rebuilt to move during rough weather. The distinctive dome which also houses the camera obscura was built in 1888. A disatrous fire in 2014 all but destroyed the pier but it was purchased, rebuilt and reopened, standing proudly once again.

Baby African Eelephants, Loxodonta Africana, at feeding time with their keeper at the David Sheldrik Wildlife Trust, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa. The trust cares for baby elephants, & a few Rhinocerous, returning them to the wild when they are old enough to fend for themselves. The Trust is also an educational facility and Kenyon school children are admitted free. The staff stay with their charge 24 hours a day on a 3 day rotational arrangement with another staff member. The babies have 2 hourly feeds, and during the morning for 2 hours visitors are permitted to watch the feeding and the after-play. It is a wonderful experience. Baby elephants are brought to the trust when they have lost their mothers and would otherwise die, mainly due...
