This design is influenced and inspired by the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. The fictional Sanitarium mentioned in his story "The Thing on the Doorstep", is located in Arkham, Massachusetts. Arkham is also the home of Miskatonic University, which figures prominently in many of Lovecraft's works.
