The Amsterdam Admirals were formed in 1995 as part of a plan to restart the World League of American Football, but now based entirely in Europe. They qualified for the 1995 World Bowl with a 9–1 regular season record, but lost to the Galaxy by a score of 26–22. Ten years later, the Admirals won their first World Bowl by defeating the defending champion Berlin Thunder 27–21 in the championship game's 13th edition. The next season, they failed to defend their title against the Galaxy 22–7 in World Bowl XIV.

The Berlin Thunder came into existence as an expansion team, after the London/England Monarchs franchise shut down operations, prior to the 1999 season. Home games from 1999 to 2002 were played at Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark and one game in 2006. Olympiastadion was the home stadium from 2003 to 2007. The team's record in 1991 was 4-6, and they turned things around in 1992 with a mark of 7-3. The Riders were not able to compete in the highly competitive North American West Division during the 1992 season, and like the Galaxy of 1991, they did not make the playoffs despite a 7-3 record.

They were a member of the North American West division of the World League of American Football (WLAF) and played their home games at Legion Field. The club was a charter member of the WLAF, and saw moderate success as they compiled an overall record of twelve wins, nine losses and one tie (12–9–1) and made the playoffs in both seasons they competed. The franchise folded in September 1992 when the WLAF league went on an indefinite hiatus.

The Dragons were successful on the field, making it to 4 World Bowls (1991, 1997, 1999, 2001) and winning World Bowl V in 1997.

The Frankfurt Galaxy were a professional American football team that originally played in the World League of American Football and later in the resurrected Europe League. The team was based in Frankfurt, Germany and played in the Waldstadion Arena. The Galaxy was the only team in the league to have remained in operation and in the same city throughout the league's existence. The Frankfurt Galaxy's record eight appearances in the 15 World Bowl games were evenly split in the composite standings with four wins (1995, 1999, 2003 and 2006) and four losses (1996, 1998, 2004, and 2007).
