Jungle Crews Crewneck Sweatshirts

Skipper Richard Wallace is the gift that keeps on giving. Last year, we did a bunch of art for a Kickstarter game, and we had a lot of pieces left over. We're going to start uploading them so you can have some fun with them. This little beauty is going straight onto a black t-shirt, and also a car sticker for me.

Skipper Richard Wallace is a friend and contributing artist for the Tales from the Jungle Crews. His illustrations were the core of “King of the Skippers”, our latest card game, and he continues to produce art for the podcast. This piece, “Skipperette”, was created for the KotS card game. (As you may have noticed, much of our work revolves around Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise Skipper culture. We host a podcast devoted to the subject, and these items are independent homages to the Golden Era of Adventure that the stories from the ride take place in.)

Sadly, the Hippotarians didn't win the 2016 election, but we can all stand behind them. Actually, based on the amount of poo that is thrown by a Hippo, standing behind one is a pretty bad idea. Still, there's always 2020, and we can stand beside our Hippo brethren as they get the political clout they deserve.

So, I got asked to put together something as a sticker for the back of Skipper cars, and Skipper Richard Wallace did not disappoint with his artwork. This sticker will proudly, one assume, identify you as a Skipper. (or just a lover of The Jungle Cruise)

We all know that mankind's journey through evolution has been a long process? But what is at the far end of that? What is the pinnacle of evolution? Well, I think we all know that, don't we?

The African Veldt at the Jungle Cruise has all sorts of famous African animals on it. This Jungle Cruise joke is one of the more subtle jokes that's been around for more than a few decades, but I kept getting requests for it, so I figured I'd do a helvetica list for it.

Richard Wallace is amazing. Both as a Skipper and an artist. I assume this is not a self portrait, as Richard is much taller, and not a cartoon. This and our other new shirt, B is for Bote, are us kicking around some concepts for a children's alphabet board book that will be happening at some point. This was so darn cute, though, we wanted to make it available earlier.

There's a big generational gap between Jungle Cruise Skippers. The split happens in the late 90's, when the spelling of "Boat" suddenly changed to "Bote". Well, to make sure that we are representing all generations, we have shirts available now with both spellings.

Everyone loves a Jungle Skipper! This Skipperette was designed by the fantastic Skipper Richard Wallace, one of the artists who contribute to The Skipper Store.

So, as a designer, I sort of have a niche. (Disney/JungleCruise/Tiki) The Skipper Store has 6 different designers who do a variety of items, but they are all sort of in that same category. So, I thought, why not broaden the Skipper Store and try playing with a few other designs and styles. They may not be as much of a "click" for our core audience, but why not give them a run, right? This one has a bit of the obvious Kawaii influence, but it was just sort of a starting point for me to play with a whole different look and style.

Laugh at their jokes or your skipper will be your swim instructor.

Jung Ho-yeon Squid Game

It's great seeing LGBTQ representation in Disney movies, and the Jungle Cruise movie (while not overly pronounced) did have a touching moment with Jack Whitehall's character. We had so much demand, we wanted to do something to celebrate this moment...

At the World Famous Jungle Cruise in Anaheim, a series of gunshots fired indicate problems with the ride or boats. a "6 Shot" situation is the worst, meaning your boat has come off it's guide. From the dock, hearing 6 "bangs" is a rare occurrence, but standing there when you hear it is an unforgettable experience. (This is a very specific and niche design, really just for Jungle Cruise Skippers from DIsneyland...)

The story of Alexander Hippoton is a long storied story in the annals of Jungle Cruise history. This plucky young Hippo rose up and help found his nation, trampling the British and ensuring the right to wiggle his ears and blow bubbles. The musical version of his life is even now burning up ticket sales in the Hippo pool...

The lovely ladies of the Tiki Room... some of the hardest working performers in show business, 40 shows a day for the last 53 years or so...
