Kill Devil Hills is a town in Dare County, North Carolina, located on the Outer Banks. It is best known for its association with the Wright Brothers and their first powered flight on December 17, 1903. The name Kill Devil Hills is said to have originated from an old brand of rum that was popular with local pirates. Today, the town is a popular tourist destination, with miles of beaches, historic landmarks, and outdoor activities such as surfing, fishing, and hang gliding.
