The Cape Cod Codfish - Although you may be miles away from the fried clam strips and horseshoe crabs of Cape Cod, nothing says summer like Cape Cod, a unique and colorful seaside community on the spit of land off the coast of Massachusetts. Cape Cod received its name for its abundance of codfish. Fishing and seafaring have long been an integral part of this community, as well as the relaxed and playful attitude that seems to permeate this Oceanside living.

In 1979 George Brush and Herbert Putnam partnered with Carly Simon to open the Hot Tin Roof on Martha’s Vineyard. It quickly became a hangout for the SNL crowd, James Taylor’s family and a place where anyone from Keith Richards, Walter Cronkite, John Travolta to Jackie Kennedy Onassis could be spotted. Before they were the Blues Brothers, Belushi and Ackroyd polished their act at the Hot Tin Roof. You’d hear Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton, Ricky Nelson, Leon Russell, Jesse Colin Young, Martha Reeves, John Popper, Martin Mull, Maria Muldaur, the Roches,and Pat Benatar. Playing The Roof became a box that needed to be checked on many artists’ “I played at” lists. And a must-stop visit for anyone vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard.

Pequod is a fictional 19th-century Nantucket whaling ship that appears in the 1851 novel Moby-Dick by American author Herman Melville. Pequod and her crew, commanded by Captain Ahab, are central to the story, which, after the initial chapters, takes place almost entirely aboard the ship during a three-year whaling expedition in the Atlantic, Indian and South Pacific oceans. Most of the characters in the novel are part of Pequod's crew. Ishmael, the novel's narrator, encounters the ship after he arrives in Nantucket and learns of three ships that are about to leave on three-year cruises. Tasked by his new friend, the Polynesian harpooner Queequeg (or more precisely, Queequeg's idol-god, Yojo), to make the selection for them both.
