Huntington Beach was certainly a busy place, even on the Tuesday morning we spent there. Beach volleyballers jumped around in the sand nearby as surfers clad in wetsuits braved the waves on both sides of the pier. I liked standing underneath the pier though, watching the waves crashing towards me as the noise of the world around me died away.

The Portland Beavers was the name of separate minor league baseball teams, which represented Portland, Oregon, in the Pacific Coast League (PCL). The team was established in 1903, the first year of the PCL, until the last iteration ended playing in 2010. Players who got their start with the Beavers include Stan Coveleski, Jim Thorpe, Mickey Cochrane, Ted Williams. An 56 year old Satchel Paige even pitched for them in 1961.

From three arch rocks to amazing sunsets, Oceanside was founded as hot-spot for vacationing early in the 20th century. It was the vision of H.H. and J.H. Rosenberg who said "It would be one of the biggest and finest resorts of the Pacific Northwest. The seal rocks...will vie in fame with the nationally known 'Seal Rocks' of the Cliff House, at the Golden Gate, San Francisco." This design captures Oceanside with a retro look.

The Western Basketball Association was a one-year effort to create a Western counterpart & competitor to the country’s top minor basketball league, the Pennsylvania-based Continental Basketball Association (CBA). The WBA began play in the fall of 1978 with seven teams in Arizona, California, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Washington. All WBA franchises, including the Lumberjacks, folded during the summer of 1979.
