The 8th Bn 4th Artillery was a 175mm, self-propelled gun battalion assigned to I Field Force along the DMZ. Part of the 108th Artillery Group. Later converted to dual 8-Inch Howitzer and 175mm Gun Battalion. Mainly supporting the US Marine Units. Later converting into a dual 8-Inch Howitzer and 175mm Gun battalion Supporting 25th Infantry Division as well.

The Cambodian campaign (also known as the Cambodian incursion and the Cambodian invasion) was a brief series of military operations conducted in eastern Cambodia in 1970 by South Vietnam and the United States as an extension of the Vietnam War and the Cambodian Civil War. Thirteen major operations were conducted by the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) between 29 April and 22 July and by U.S. forces between 1 May and 30 June 1970.

In 1965, the assets of the 11th AAD and the 2d Infantry Division were merged to form the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). On 1 August 1965, the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) was sent to Vietnam. Aviators participated in 14 campaigns and received seven decorations during its seven years of duty in Vietnam.

The unit reactivated on 1 June 1940 at Fort McClellan, Alabama, before inactivating on 1 March 1946 at Camp Butner, North Carolina. It reactivated 15 July 1947 at Fort Ord, California. It reorganized and was redesignated on 1 April 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battle Group, 22nd Infantry and remained assigned to the 4th Infantry Division (with its organic elements being concurrently constituted and activated). It was reorganized and redesignated on 1 October 1963 as the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry. It was deployed to Vietnam as part of the 2d Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division and conducted operations in the Central Highlands.

1966–1973: Approximately 5,000 US war dogs served in the Vietnam War (the US Army did not retain records prior to 1968); about 10,000 US servicemen served as dog-handlers during the war, and the K9 units are estimated to have saved over 10,000 human lives. 232 military working dogs and 295 US servicemen working as dog handlers were killed in action during the war. It is estimated that about 200 Vietnam War dogs survived the war to be assigned at other US bases outside the US. The remaining canines were euthanized or left behind.

The 26th Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United States Army. Its nickname is "Blue Spaders", taken from the spade-like device on the regiment's distinctive unit insignia. The 94th Field Artillery Regiment is a field artillery regiment of the United States Army, first constituted 1933 in the Regular Army. As the 94th Field Artillery Battalion, the unit served with the 4th Armored Division during World War II. After some service as a constabulary force in Germany, the unit rejoined the 4th Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas, and in Germany. Under the CARS and USARS since 1957, regimental elements have served with the 1st Armored and 4th Armored Divisions in Germany and at Fort Hood, Texas; with the 108th Artillery Group in Vietnam; and with the Berlin Brigade in Germany. Units of the regiment have earned campaign streamers in World War II, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and the War on Terror.

On 2 May 1965 the battalion deployed to South Vietnam as part of the 1st Infantry Division. For five years the battalion cleared obstacles, built roads, airfields, basecamps and bridges in support of numerous combat operations including Junction City I and II and the Tet Offensive of 1968. The battalion's DieHard Tunnel Rat section cleared the extensive Vietcong tunnel systems with little more than small arms and demolitions. The battalion received four Meritorious Unit Commendations for actions during the Vietnam War.

The 50th Infantry Regiment is a United States Army infantry regiment. Reorganized and redesignated 1 July 1963 as the 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry Assigned as part of the 198th Infantry Brigade, after the Brigade's reactivation on 15 May 2007 at Fort Benning, Georgia, to serve as an Infantry Training Brigade.

The Battalion also provided for unit distribution of the supply items.

he 15th Medical Battalion was a non-combat battalion of the United States Army Medical Department, originally formed on 23 March 1925 as the 1st Medical Squadron and redesignated as the 15th Medical Battalion on 25 March 1949. On 1 October 1984, the 15th Medical Battalion was redesignated the 2nd Forward Support Battalion. Two of the medical companies were reassigned and a Quartermaster company from the 15th Supply & Transportation Battalion became the new Company A, while Company B came from the 27th Maintenance Battalion. On 15 May 1987, the Battalion became the 15th Support Battalion (Forward). The Battalion has been assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division since it was formed.

1st Cavalry Division arrived in South Vietnam and the 5th Cavalry was soon in action; from 18-20 September, 2-5 Cavalry supported friendly elements in Operation Gibraltar. However, their first real test did not come until the Battle of Ia Drang. During the fight for LZ X-Ray, elements of the 7th Cavalry were surrounded by large People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) forces, and 2-5 Cavalry arrived to help. They arrived on the American line and quickly engaged enemy forces, eventually rescuing the "lost platoon" led by SGT Ernie Savage. Once the battle was complete, the 2/5th Cavalry troopers set out for LZ Columbus while Alpha Company 1/5th Cavalry and 2/7th Cavalry set out for LZ Albany. The 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry won nine campaign streamers, and one in May and 2nd with it being an Oak leaf cluster in October–November 1967 Presidential Unit Citation (United States) with one Oak leaf cluster, and supporting units, for action in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970, participating in operations Sam Houston, Francis Marion, Don Quin, and Paul Revere III, and IV. The Vietnamese Government awarded the battalion the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Civil Action Medal First Class. Alpha and Charlie Companies were awarded an Oakleaf Cluster to their Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism in the Republic of Vietnam. Companies A and C sought out the enemy.

The 1st Infantry Division is a combined arms division of the United States Army, and is the oldest continuously serving in the Regular Army. It has seen continuous service since its organization in 1917 during World War I.It was officially nicknamed "The Big Red One" (abbreviated "BRO") after its shoulder patch and is also nicknamed "The Fighting First".
