Demeter and Persephone Hoodie

Spring is finally here again, and hopefully she sticks around this time! This art was inspired by the myth surrounding the Harvest Goddess Demeter and her daughter Persephone. Hades, God of the Underworld, falls in love with Persephone and whisks her away to the Underworld to be his Queen. Demeter, angered and saddened by her daughters kidnapping, stops all plants from growing and sends the world into a desolate winter. Eventually, Persephone returns to the surface to be with her mother, but because she had eaten a pomegranate seed given by Hades, she is bound to the Underworld and must return and live with him for six months each year, while the other six months she spends with her mother.
