The casas señoriales in the villages of La Alpujarra Almeriense were built over 100 years ago when the area benefited from its mineral wealth and agriculture (grapes and oranges). Many of these grand houses are still lived in and there are some particularly fine examples in my neighbouring village, Terque. I love their elegant facades and impressive, wooden doors. I painted this entrance because I also loved the little chair with the red cushion which I thought completed the composition. The original painting is for sale directly from me.
