Marbled Lungfish Hoodie

It is a member of the African lungfishes family and is native to the Nile, Congo and Lower Congo River basins and some lakes in Africa. it possesses “lungs” and must frequently surface to gulp air (obligate air-breather). Adults are able to survive in streams and swamps that are completely dry for long periods of the year, withstanding desiccation on floodplains by aestivating in cocoons until the next rains, breathing air by a small passage leading to the outside. Its diet consists mollusks, but small fishes and insects are also eaten in small quantities. It can reach a maximum length of 200 cm (about 6.6 ft) and a maximum published weight of 17 kg (about 37 1/2 lbs).
