Honister Pass, Winding Road, Black And White Before we left for our Cumbrian holidays, this is one of the photographs that I really wanted to get. Last time we came I couldn't find a place to stop and get this shot and once you have passed the walls it would be very hard to turn around and come back. The Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria is the last working slate mine in England. Quarrying for Westmorland green slate has been taking place in the area since 1728. Apart from the mining it is also a popular tourist attraction in the Lake District National Park. This image looks it's best in a large format print, canvas or anything but it must be BIG.
