'The Dark Half' is a Jekyll and Hyde tale cleverly reformulated as the story of a mild-mannered, primly serious novelist, Thad Beaumont, who has learned, for fun and profit, to give vent to his 'dark half' in a series of violent, anti-social thrillers written under the testosterone-sopped pseudonym, 'George Stark.' Thad sees George as a whisky-slugging, chain-smoking, knife-wielding wild man, who speaks with a Southern accent and drives 1966 Olds Toronado 'High Toned Son of a Bitch' set across the rear end and that was pretty much all you needed to know about George.
