At last the dogs of war have a P47, the Jug as it was know to its pilots was named not for its size, as in juggernaut, but for the fact that someone at some point thought that if up ended and balanced on its nose its fuselage looked like a classic American milk jug. In any case it was a massive fighter plane known for being fast and very rugged. It had 8 50,cal machine guns in the wings and packed a huge bunch. Pilots of the P47 found it was excellent in a dive but not so great in a dogfight against more agile fighters like the Bf109. Therefore they perfected the Boom and Zoom. Dive on the enemy guns blazing and then use the momentum to fly back up to altitude whether a kill was made or not. If a pilot wanted to live a long hand happy life

The aircraft has severe flack damage to the port wing, the tip has been blown off and the port engines are burning oil. The tail has also been damaged with the rudder and tail gun turret blown off . Escorting her home are two B17s that have dropped back in support. This is my digital depiction using photographs of the only European flying B-17 Sally-B. It’s based on photographs of B-17s that made it home with flack damage that were beyond belief!

A pair of F16 Fighting Falcons flying in tight formation photographed at RAF Fairford in England in 2017. The show was a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the United States Air Force. The aircraft belong to the 480th fighter squadron, nicknamed "Warhawks" based in Spangdahelm in Germany.

Royal Air Force

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Concord's first commercial flights on January 21st 1976, I have created a set of illustrations depicting Concord from the first flight in 1969 through to the final flight in 2003. This image is of Air France Concorde F-BVFA, in 1988 it flew around the world in a record breaking (at the time) 41 hours 27 minutes. It can be seen on display in Chantilly, Virginia, USA.

Aviation themed

To go with my ww2 RAF pilot I've created a dogs of war Luftwaffe pilot. I've used the emblems of the German air force during WW2 and pictured a dog that resembles the Doberman Pinscher that is a breed of dog developed in the late 1800s in Germany. Next up will be an American P51 'driver'
