It's south of everything!

Close to shore huge tabular icebergs are stuck in the fast ice. These icebergs are about the size of a ten story building above the fast ice and about 6 to 7 times that below. They are new icebergs having just calved from claciers or ice tongues in the previous summer and have got iced in during the winter. As the summer develops the fast ice will at least partially melt and the icebergs will be set free to travel around the Antarctic Continent until they eventually melt. Antarctic Penguins Height - This list of seven is not without contention, and it's bound to be a conversation starter among penguin lovers. Some would include the Magellanic penguin, while others would exclude the king penguin, while there are those who feel only the emperor and Adelie should be included. This list of sever is the most common, and it includes Antarctic and sub-Antarctic penguins. I drew the individual penguins in pencils on paper, and then I collaged them together digitally.

Antactic Tern, Sterna vittata, in the nesting rookery on the cliffs of the Antarctic Peninsula, Cierva Cove, Antarctica. Antarctic terns return to colonies in September and October. They are loosely colonial birds, rarely nesting with more than 40 widely-spread nests in any one locality. They are closely related to Arctic Terns, but are stockier in build. Canon 500D, zoom lens.

Atypical Penguins

Endurance was the three-masted barquentine in which Sir Ernest Shackleton and a crew of 27 men sailed for the Antarctic on the 1914–1917 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. The ship, originally named Polaris, was built at Framnæs shipyard and launched in 1912 from Sandefjord in Norway. After her commissioners could no longer pay the shipyard, the ship was bought by Shackleton in January 1914 for the expedition, which would be her first voyage. A year later, she became trapped in pack ice and finally sank in the Weddell Sea off Antarctica on 21 November 1915. All of the crew survived her sinking and were eventually rescued in 1916 after using the ship's boats to travel to Elephant Island.

A Polar Lovecraft Fever Dream

Vinson Massif, standing tall at 4,892 meters (16,050 feet), represents the highest peak in Antarctica. Located in the remote Ellsworth Mountains, scaling this icy giant requires specialized skills and logistics, making it a coveted destination for those seeking adventure in the frozen continent.
