The goldcrest is the smallest bird in the UK. This design features a photograph I took of a goldcrest a few years ago. They are very cute but fast birds - very hard to photograph. This design features my shop name as a subtle watermark.

One of the glorious sights in nature is that of the ghostly shape of a barn owl hunting in the fields at sunset. As beautiful as that is, it doesn't offer a chance to admire the owl's beautiful colouring or observe closely the shape of that sound collecting face which enables the barn owl to hear it's pray scuffling through the undergrowth. The barn owl has been a feature of the English countryside for many centuries - early descriptions date back to the 18th century.

A pair of beautiful starlings with iridescent feathers in blossom. These beautiful garden birds were once seen as the birds of the Druids and in the Welsh Mabinogion, the Queen Branwen nursed a young starling to health and then used it to send a message to her brother to rescue her from mistreatment at the hands of her husband. I created my Celtic starlings art from pen drawings put together digitally to create the final artwork.

My front garden over looks the viaduct in Tavistock and as I’m high up on a hill I get a good view of the moors and also the various birds that pair up on the phone lines. Since we are heading out of lockdown I thought this would be an appropriate time to cut this block..... did you know that some birds ( swallows in this print ) pair up year after year. If they survive migration they return to their nesting ground and find each other. Family members, hunting pals and partners all wait patiently for that first sight of there loved one after a year of absence.

A fine example of the Tawny Owl. Seldom seen, but often heard in the middle of the night, the tawny owl is responsible for the familiar 'twit' (female) and twooo (male) sound that echoes across the countryside in the still small hours.

A common British garden bird, the male chaffinch is one of the more colourful garden birds. Seen here amongst the Winter snow keen to find some food. Anyone who has watched chaffinches will know they are not the most accomplished of fliers, spending most time ground feeding.
