I spotted this pub in the East of Hull, a lovely symmetry to inspire me, curves and arches, compact and grand at once. The brick is red, warm, absorbing the heat of many summers, radiating warmth in the depth of winter when fog rolls in from the Humber, the sound of cheerful voices and the glow of company from within. I am intrigued and want to know the age of the building, its history and its namesake. The work is rich in colour, with hints of hot August weather and a bright blue sky. A great gift, a wonderful souvenir of Hull.

I love this view of Hull. I can see all the city from here. A place I have known all my life. A place of childhood. Hull excites me for this reason. Walks of rediscovery and reconnection, a place of dark shadows and ancient cobbles, of exciting post-war architecture and nostalgic pilgrimage. I love this city. This work sets the city centre in one scene, under a East Yorkshire sky.

A famous and iconic Hull pub, filled with atmosphere, a place of ghosts and friendship. A lovely work that exudes Hull. An ideal gift, a wonderful souvenir. I have painted this scene before, but the pub, and what it stands for and what it reminds me of, continue to draw me.

Hull Maritime Museum, Queen Victoria Square, Black And White The Hull Maritime Museum is a museum in Kingston upon Hull, England, that explores the seafaring heritage of the city and its environs. The museum's stated mission is "To preserve and make available the maritime history of Hull and east Yorkshire through artefacts and documents". The Maritime Museum is right in the city centre of Hull in Queen Victoria Square. It is near the Ferens Art Gallery and Hull City Hall. he Hull Brewing Company was established in New Haven, Connecticut in 1872 by Colonel William Hull. Shortly after it opened it was affectionately referred to as “Hull’s”. Brewing was nonstop at The Hull Brewing Company until prohibition hit in 1920. From 1920 To 1933, while most local breweries shut down, Hull’s stayed in business by producing ice and non-alcoholic malt beverages. Shortly after the repeal of prohibition in 1933, The Hull Brewing Company moved its operations to The Old Fresenius Brewery, located at 820 Congress Avenue, where it thrived. In it’s new location it ultimately became, to this day, Connecticut’s largest brewery.
