Sunset in Peraia, a small town about 30 km outside Thessaloniki (the Capital of Northern Greece, the second largest city of the country, with more than 2300 years of important history). Peraia was the favorite destination for the summer vacations of the inhabitants of the city, during the 60's and 70's. Then beautiful Halkidiki took its place and for about 20 years Peraia passed a period of decline. Nowadays is starting to gain back its old glamour, and it's a place worth a visit for its great fishtavernes and nice beach.

One of the most interesting part of my travels around Greece, is when I meet old people and they tell me stories about their region. I feel blessed for being able to have a contact with those people full of the wisdom of life. The night of the photo, as soon as I packed my camera and my tripod, I went down to the floating bar for a drink and for some moments of relaxation after a hard day. I saw there an old man, who looked a lot like the stereotype of the retired mariner. He was looking at the lake with humid eyes, as if he was looking for a substitute of the "big" salty water of the sea to the "small" sweet water of the lake. Maybe, this is all just my imagination.
