This camera began its adventures in Germany when it was purchased by a young soldier many years ago. It found its way to me as a friend of the family. But how cool for it to go on new adventures wrapped around technology that would have put a sparkle in the eyes of the young man if he had only lived to see it!

Let me first say that Lepiotae are close to my favorite mushrooms, if I had to pick. Certainly I have probably eaten great numbers of choice Lepiotae in my life. These particular darling buttons were accompanying a partial fairy circle of large (10 inch caps), beautiful specimens, and the find (in a dear friends yard) delighted me. But what about that faint greenish cast to the gills? Sorry, no image available. But if I wasn't a photographer, I might have overlooked it, or thought it was grey, as one unfortunate blogger has done. Remember those cartoon suns we drew as little kids? A yellow circle, with spiky points all around? Funny how this dahlia just soaked up all that sunshine and bounced it back to us. When you have a spunky 3 year old client, you can't make stuff happen. What you CAN do is put Mom & Dad in a cute spot and be ready for the Little Miss Spunkiness to be herself... You know it surprises me how nervous I am to share my abstracts! Actually quite a bit more so than 'true' photographs (although all of these are composed 100% in-camera.) Perhaps they are a bit more personal because no one looking at that scene saw them quite this way (without the help of my deliberately out of focus lens). All the bees hard work... & the keepers hard work tending them (no collected honey from this frame yet, obviously. Other frames were full of honey, but also already loaded with eggs, so the little girls get to keep all their honey for the winter. ) The photographer's hard work need not be considered... but escaping the bees when the day was done will not soon be forgotten! Finally, this year... I have quickly seized the day-as soon as it's gathered into the lovely bales, but before the farmers fetch the hay into the barn (what are they THINKING?) .
