In The Shining, Stovington is the fictional prep school in Stovington, Vermont where Jack Torrance worked as a teacher until he lost his job. He is seen wearing his Stovington Eagles t-shirt while working as the off-season caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel. Stovington. In other novels in the King Multiverse, the Centers for Disease Control had a facility there and Stuart Redman was taken there from Atlanta. Chuck Chatsworth attended the school and Arnie Cunningham drove through the town in Christine.
